| Speak Sauna Like a Suomalainen
Hyvää päivää!!
The Finnish language has few similarities to any other language. Finnish is as thrifty as Finns themselves. It has no gender, no articles (the, a, an) and few prepositions. Instead just stick a few letters on the end of words here and there until it means just what you want it to mean. No sense using 15 words to say something when you can say it in 3 (never mind that many Finnish words are over 15 letters long). It takes great "sisu" even for Finns to learn their own language. Following are a few everyday words and phrases you may want to tackle. We have included the familiar versions here:
